Southwest China's Guizhou province recently released regulations on the establishment of Long March National Cultural Parks and they reportedly took effect on July 1.

Guizhou's Long March National Cultural Parks involve the areas, routes, unmovable cultural relics, conference sites, ruins, memorial facilities, villages and scenic spots related to the Red Army.

The regulations focus on solving the challenges faced with Long March heritage protection, construction, management and use. Under the regulations, cultural relic-related government departments above the county level should verify and archive newly-discovered Long March ruins according to their value.

The construction of Long March National Cultural Parks are expected to be planned as a whole, to stress the theme of the Long March and coordinate over the treatment of their respective historical and ethnic cultural characteristics and natural environments.

Guizhou is reportedly encouraging the publicity of Long March ruins and cultural resources, academic exchanges and R&D of Long March-related cultural and creative products.

Under the regulations, any people that distort, vilify, desecrate, make up or deny the history, spirit, heroes, martyrs and events of the Long March will be punished by related government departments.

Guizhou has rich Long March cultural relics and resources covering more than 60 counties (cities and districts) in nine cities and prefectures.
