Experts on climate issues from home and abroad gathered in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on July 12 for a forum on climate change, carbon sink, and environmental protection.

They explored strategies for dealing with global climate change, with a focus on energy transition, sustainable low-carbon development, climate change, environmental protection, climate change, and agricultural ecological development.

The forum was a part of the 2021 Eco Forum Global Guiyang held in Guiyang on July 12-13. It was divided into three sections and included an international forum, a themed forum, and a closing ceremony.

Participants of the conference affirmed the success of Guizhou's ecological civilization construction and low-carbon development.

Guizhou's green economy currently accounts for 42 percent of its total economy, and its forest coverage rate is sitting at 60 percent.

Guizhou occupies an important strategic position for environmental issues as an important ecological barrier in the upper reaches of the Yangtze and Pearl Rivers.

At the forum, Guizhou Normal University also signed a school-enterprise cooperation agreement with China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group.

The two sides will jointly apply to open a provincial carbon emissions reduction research center and launch a class by China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group .

China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group will also encourage Guizhou Normal University to join the protection technology innovation alliance for the co-management of the Yangtze River.
