In recent years, Southwest China's Guizhou province has focused on children's nutritional improvement and rural women's health, and nowadays all kids between six months to 36 months old can receive free nutrition packages and women from 88 counties can enjoy free cancer screening.

The nutrition packages include high-quality supplements such as protein, iron, zinc and calcium, as well as multivitamins. These can improve a child's nutritional condition in a short time, avoiding low body weight, delayed growth and anemia.

In 2021, the Health Commission of Guizhou Province launched a nutritional improvement plan to cover all the children between six months to 36 months old.

By July 4, Guizhou had distributed 2.83 million nutrition packages and benefited some 599,000 children.

Guizhou also offered free cervical cancer and breast cancer screening for rural women aged 35-64 years, to improve the cure rate and reduce the death rate. During the first half of this year, Guizhou screened 432,906 women with cervical cancer and 197,758 women with breast cancer.

Plans are for health departments to follow up on all the suspected cases and urge women to accept further examinations. The confirmed cases will then receive help from public welfare programs.

From 2016 to 2020, Guizhou offered free cancer screening to more than 3.75 million rural women. In the future, the province will continue to offer free cancer screening, publicize cancer prevention knowledge and raise public awareness about cancer.
