Athlete wins first Guizhou gold medal at 14th National Games

Yan Jiahua – from Southwest China's Guizhou – won the province's first gold medal at the 14th National Games on Sept 12, in the women's white water kayaking competition.

The event was held in Panzhihua city, Southwest China's Sichuan province. The games, which will stage an official opening ceremony on Sept 15 in Xi'an city, in Northwest China's Shaanxi province, run through to Sept 27.

Yan also won Guizhou's first medal of the National Games at another kayaking competition held on Sept 10.

Yan, who is a star kayaking athlete born in Guizhou's Zunyi city in 1997, has won several national competition medals since 2012.
