In recent years, as one of the 12 featured agriculture industries of Southwest China's Guizhou province, cili (roxburgh rose) has formed four main planting areas in Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture and the cities of Anshun, Bijie, and Liupanshui.

The area of Guizhou's standard cili plantations has increased from 1.55 million mu (10,320 hectares) in 2018 to 2.1 million mu in 2021, and cili fruit output has increased from 66,000 metric tons in 2019 to 100,000 tons in 2021.

To improve the quality and efficiency of the cili industry, Guizhou issued 25 cili standards and high-quality cili development goals for 2021, giving priority to standard cili plantation areas.

In the first half of this year, the production value of Guizhou's cili products were 1.35 billion yuan ($209.26 million), an increase of 55 percent year-on-year. Sales of cili products was 1 billion yuan, an increase of 80 percent year-on-year, while cili fruit output this year is estimated to reach 130,000 tons, bringing in income for 210,000 people.
