The city of Zunyi in Southwest China's Guizhou province announced at a news conference on Oct 29 that all COVID-19 cases reported in the city are of the Delta variant.

So far, the city has reported 12 confirmed cases. The first case was related to the outbreak in Northwest China, while the rest of the 11 cases were all related to the first case.

The origin of the outbreak in Northwest China is still being traced, but according to the survey and gene sequencing of the virus, the outbreak was possibly caused by an imported case.

The samples of some cases in Zunyi show high transmissibility and can cause secondary transmission among exposed people. Despite the fact that all three rounds of nucleic acid tests saw negative results and no new cases were reported, Zunyi still must remain on guard.

According to Zunyi's center for disease control and prevention, all people should closely follow the pandemic, protect themselves, monitor their health, and get vaccinated as soon as possible.
