Southwest China's Guizhou province is widely viewed as having achieved great progress in becoming a leading destination for tourism.

In 2020, Guizhou released 2,991 cultural tourism investment attraction projects, 226 being listed as major provincial projects and 144 of which were listed as provincial service industry innovation projects.

Currently, Guizhou has 123 national 4A-level scenic spots and eight national 5A-level ones, as well as 37 tourist resorts, two of which are at the national level.

Guizhou is also home to four world natural heritage sites, one world cultural heritage site, 81 cultural relic sites under national priority protection and more than 100 museums.

In 2020, Guizhou launched more than 200 projects integrating culture, tourism, agriculture, forestry and sports. In addition, 26 culture, tourism, agriculture and commerce integration projects were being implemented and 55 hot spring tourism projects were offered onto the market – while tourism projects were made available at scenic spots, hotels, airports, expressway service zones and tourist distribution centers.

Guizhou's tourism and culture department promoted its tourism resources in Brunei, Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur and the United Kingdom in 2020. It also established English, Japanese and Korean tourism websites in the same year.

Plans are for Guizhou to continue to promote its tourism brand as a province with mountains and parks. It will step up its industrialization of tourism, help cultivate more tourism business entities, help tourism companies to list on share markets and attract major tourism businesses.
