The Huangguoshu National Park – located in Anshun, in Southwest China's Guizhou province – has become one of the province's three scenic spots to have special autonomic air quality monitoring.

The other two scenic areas to employ the cutting-edge technology are Fanjing Mountain and Longgong Cave.

In addition to six regular monitoring indexes, Huangguoshu's negative oxygen ions are also detected to reflect its air cleanliness. The air quality data is released monthly and is included in Guizhou's monthly report of its provincial air quality.

According to the World Health Organization, if the air contains 1,000-1,500 negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter, it is determined as clean air. When the number reaches more than 2,000, it means the air is extremely clean.

The Guizhou Department of Ecology and Environment reported the air quality of the three scenic spots for the first time on Oct 28. According to the report, Huangguoshu's average concentration of negative oxygen ions is 4,200 per cu cm.

According to the Huangguoshu branch of the Anshun bureau of ecology and environment, Huangguoshu's air quality has met national first-grade standards since the air quality monitor facilities were put into use in August. Guangguoshu's average concentration of negative oxygen ions is above 4,000 per cu cm and the air quality index meets the excellent grade.

The establishment of air quality monitoring facilities in scenic spots is expected to help Guizhou get a complete picture of its air cleanness, so as to help it coordinate its environmental protection and its tourism development.
