Guizhou releases top 10 economic news stories in 2021

The Guizhou Economics Society in Southwest China's Guizhou province on Dec 25 released the top 10 economic news stories for the province, in an exercise of news collection, collating and rating that the organization has performed annually since 2016.

The top 10 news stories, as rated by the economics society, are as follows:

1. Guizhou's economy maintained stable growth and ranked among China's top performers nationally in annual growth rates in the last two years.

2. Guizhou's industrial investment is estimated to increase by 20 percent year-on-year in 2021, with the added value of industries above a designated size maintaining double-digit growth.

3. Guizhou's added value of its agriculture industry is estimated to increase by 7 percent year-on-year, while the per capita disposable income of rural residents will increase by 11 percent year-on-year.

4. Guizhou has more than 110,000 tourism companies and has the most national rural tourism villages and towns in China.

5. Guizhou will build 10 demonstration counties, 100 demonstration towns and townships, as well as 1,000 demonstration villages for rural revitalization. It is also promoting the construction of 50 provincial rural revitalization pilot areas.

6. Guizhou's growth rate of its digital economy ranked first nationally over six years and it has been approved to construct a national integrated computing networking bub. The first stage of Huawei's cloud data center in the Guian New Area started operating.

7. Guizhou's forest coverage reached 62 percent; more than 98 percent of the days in its main cities had good to excellent air quality and the green economy contributed 45 percent to total GDP.

8. Guizhou's expressways exceeded 8,000 kilometers, the water transportation route connecting the Wujiang River and the Yangtze River resumed operations and Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport started using a second runway.

9. Guizhou renovated 430,000 houses in shanty towns, 168,000 houses in old communities and 1,250 back streets and alleys.

10. Guizhou's provincial government ranked among China's top three for online service quality for five years – and the number of newly registered market entities increased by more than 20 percent year-on-year.
