Southwest China's Guizhou province is devoted to creating a working and living environment suitable for young people, according to the government work report released at the fifth plenary of the 13th Guizhou Provincial People's Congress held on Jan 20.

The proposal was first initiated in 2020, and since then, Guizhou has discussed 533 issues related to young people's employment, education, housing and marriage. So far, Guizhou's four cities and prefectures, as well as four counties and districts, have listed the proposal as a work task.

Guizhou is among the first batch of provinces in West China to realize balanced development of compulsory education among counties. To help youth stay fit, Guizhou applied for 91.9 million yuan ($14.52 million) in central government budgetary investment to build 19 sports projects, including sports parks, public fitness centers and public soccer fields.

During the first 10 months of 2021, Guizhou helped 12,100 people start businesses, issued 2.03 billion yuan in guaranteed loans for start-ups, and offered vocational training to 229,400 people from impoverished families, unemployed people, young veterans and disabled young people.

Guizhou has also made regulations to ensure that parents with children under 3 years old can receive 10 days of childcare leave per year per person, and each employee can receive 15 days of elderly-care leave.

In the future, Guizhou will launch more preferential policies to provide business opportunities, employment opportunities, and a better living environment for young people.
