Haique village in Bijie city, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has seen an increase in incomes by relying on homestay development in recent years.

In 2018, a Party spirit education base was established in the village. To guarantee catering and accommodation for the education base's trainees, Haique village encouraged villagers to run homestays in 2019.

After the education base officially opened in 2020, 17 homestays in the village started operating. By the end of 2021, the homestays shared 210,000 yuan ($33,199.2) in bonuses.

The Party branch of Haique village established a cooperative that cooperates with travel agencies, education bases and farmers to receive trainees. Every bed in the homestays can earn up to 50 yuan per day.

Another 10 homestays are currently under construction and will begin operating in May this year.

In the future, the village will further explore its potential in developing rural tourism, encourage villagers to open cultural businesses, and utilize forest farms to develop a forestry economy.
