Guiyang, Guian boost high-quality development of open economy

The city of Guiyang and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province held a meeting on the promotion of the high-quality development of the open economy on Feb 15.

Hu Zhongxiong, secretary of the CPC Guiyang Municipal Committee, noted that Guiyang has achieved progress in the development of an open economy by enhancing efforts to open up, strengthening relevant platforms, unblocking relevant channels, increasing convenience, and creating a more open environment.

He said that with the support of the State Council for Guizhou's development in the new era of West China Development, Guiyang and Guian New Area should work to accelerate the construction of an inland open economy pilot area and focus on infrastructure construction, port functions, and exchange platform construction.

He went on to say that as key hubs of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, Guiyang and Guian should enhance their opening-up through the Belt and Road Initiative and form a comprehensive opening-up pattern.

Ma Ningyu, mayor of Guiyang, said at the meeting that Guiyang should accelerate the growth of foreign trade, foreign capital and cross-border e-commerce, expand the scale of industrial clusters for an open economy, and turn its advantageous location into development strength.

He said that Guiyang should also upgrade its opening-up platforms, optimize the systems of all development zones, commercialize the achievements of opening-up platforms, improve services for investment and finance, make investment and trading more convenient, and attract and train more talent.

Ma Lei, head of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Commerce, said that the department will support Guiyang and Guian's open economy in terms of environment creation, channel construction, government policy, market expansion and project attraction.
