The State Council recently issued a document to support the development of Southwest China's Guizhou province, including improving the quality of its vocational education.
Jiang Tao, a deputy to the National People's Congress and a special-class welder at Guizhou Aerospace Tianma Electromechanical Technology Co, said that the document will bring about more opportunities for vocational education in Guizhou.
As a skilled worker with more than 30 years of experience in the military industry, Jiang has solved issues related to 136 technologies and achieved 54 research results and patents involving aerospace, aviation, navigation and shipping.
Jiang believes that with emerging new materials, techniques and technologies, skilled workers are essential for companies and industries.
In the past year, Jiang visited various vocational schools and companies and found that skilled workers in the equipment manufacturing industry in West China couldn't meet the employment needs of companies.
To reduce the gap in skilled worker education between West and East China, Jiang's national skilled master workshop and model worker innovation workshop opened Guizhou's first academy for welders and established a light alloy welding technology committee.
The academy and committee have trained more than 300 skilled welders, 10 of whom were taught directly by Jiang and have become special-class technicians and core skilled talent in the province.
Jiang's proposal of accelerating vocational school development submitted at last year's national two sessions has been responded to by related ministries. At this year's national two sessions, Jiang will continue to offer suggestions on the development of West China's local technician training and vocational schools.
