A medical team departed from Southwest China's Guizhou province on March 21 to aid Solomon Islands. It is the first Chinese medical team to be sent to the Solomon Islands and the first international medical team to be sent by Guizhou.

The medical team has six members from the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University's general family medicine department, nephrology department, acupuncture department and administrative department.

The members trained for one month in security education, prevention and control of the novel coronavirus, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, prevention and control of infectious diseases, cross-cultural communication, foreign affairs etiquette, and international publicity.

If any problem occurs during the medical team's time in the Solomon Islands, the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University will arrange a 24-hour backup team to provide remote medical consultations immediately.

After China and the Solomon Islands established diplomatic relations in 2019, both countries have carried out cooperation in medical treatment and the prevention and control of the pandemic.

China has provided vaccines, detection reagents, protective equipment and medical equipment to help with the Solomon Islands' fight against the novel coronavirus.
