Targeted measures help Guizhou control pandemic

In the face of the recent outbreak of the novel coronavirus, Southwest China's Guizhou province has taken targeted measures to control the spread of the pandemic and guarantee a sufficient supply of daily necessities, according to CCTV's Xinwen Lianbo (news broadcast) on March 21.

After Guizhou's Wuchuan county reported its first COVID-19 case on March 12, the county took strict measures to screen people who came into contact with confirmed cases and asymptomatic carriers.

So far, Wuchuan has arranged for 510 people to take epidemiology surveys and 1,520 medical workers to offer four rounds of county-wide nucleic acid tests and opened green channels for elderly people, children and pregnant women.

The county also arranged for government officials, policemen, volunteers and medical workers to help stop the spread of the virus, collect nucleic acid samples from people in quarantine areas, and disinfect public areas.

To guarantee the supply of medical materials and daily necessities, as well as stabilize prices, Wuchuan established a temporary logistics transfer station in Fuyang Industrial Park, 30 transportation teams and 90 delivery stations.

People can order daily necessities online and have them delivered to their doorstep. Wuchuan's supply of rice, cooking oil, disposable protection suits, protection masks, disinfectant and sampling tube is currently sufficient.

By 4 pm on March 21, Wuchuan county had reported nine confirmed COVID-19 cases and three asymptomatic carriers, all of whom are currently being treated at Guiyang's Jiangjunshan Hospital.

From 8 pm on March 18 to 4 pm on March 21, Wuchuan reported no new cases or asymptomatic carriers.
