Southwest China's Guizhou province recently issued measures to help Tongren city build a national emerging industrial cluster for new functional materials.

In recent years, Tongren has laid a solid foundation for the development of new functional material industry. As a national strategic emerging industrial cluster for the new functional materials industry approved by the State, Tongren has achieved impressive results in the development of such an industrial cluster.

According to its measures, by 2025, Tongren hopes to cultivate more than 80 enterprises above a designated size and more than three 10-billion-yuan ($1.49 billion) level enterprises and see more than two enterprises get listed.

Tongren will strive to promote the Guizhou Dalong Economic and Technological Development Zone and Guizhou Bijiang High-tech Industrial Development Zone to the national level, with the output of cathode materials and related raw and auxiliary materials exceeding 800,000 metric tons.

Tongren will develop cathode materials and accelerate the formation of a whole industrial chain consisting of R&D and production integrating cathode materials, negative materials, diaphragms, electrolytes, battery integration and packaging, and recycling of waste batteries.

Tongren's cathode material industry is expected to maintain its global edge in R&D and production capabilities. The output value of the city's new functional material industrial cluster centered around lithium-ion battery materials is expected to exceed 100 billion yuan, while the foreign trade value is expected to exceed 5 billion yuan.

By 2030, the output value of industrial clusters is expected to reach 200 billion yuan, while the foreign trade growth rate is expected to be higher than the provincial average.
