Guizhou's digital economy maintains high-speed growth

The growth rate of the digital economy in Southwest China's Guizhou province reached 20.6 percent in 2021, which is 4.4 percentage points higher than the national average and ranks first in China for the seventh year, according to the Big Data Development Administration of Guizhou Province.

As China's first big data comprehensive pilot area, Guizhou is devoted to the big data strategic action to promote the in-depth integration of big data and the real economy.

The province has cultivated strategic emerging industries, accelerated the construction of a modern industrial system, boosted the benefits of digital development, and continued to provide development support.

Statistics show that in 2021, the business income of Guizhou's software and information technology service industry increased by 59.3 percent year-on-year, ranking first in the country.

Guizhou's electronic information manufacturing industry grew rapidly as well, with a year-on-year increase of 27.8 percent in 2021. Meanwhile, the total telecommunication business volume and incomes increased by 18.8 percent and 7.1 percent year-on-year, respectively.

Guizhou has also promoted the transformation and upgrading of the real economy. In 2021, its index of big data and real economy integration was 42.5, which increased by 3.4 percent and 15.2 percent year-on-year compared with 2020 and 2018, respectively.

In 2021, Guizhou received approval to construct the national hub node of China's integrated computing power network, built 27,000 5G base stations, and possessed 1.56 million kilometers of optical cables.
