Guizhou, UK universities hold online exchange meeting

Guizhou Minzu University in Southwest China's Guizhou province and Keele University in the United Kingdom held an online exchange meeting on Nov 30.

Professor Zhou Jie, vice-chancellor of Guizhou Minzu University, stated in the meeting that the university wishes to communicate with more international universities. Zhou also emphasized that the university will continue to train and pass knowledge onto young talents in the hopes of better cross-culture communication.

Zhou hopes both universities take the meeting as an opportunity to promote the exchanges between teachers and students, improve the construction of disciplines, and promote the cultivation of international talents.

Professor Mark Ormerod, vice-chancellor of Keele University, said that the university has focused on improving the students' academic performances, scientific research abilities and employability. He also addressed the employment rates for new graduates and the university’s services and campus safety score, which are among the best in the UK.

Since its establishment in 1949, Keele University has been seeking exchanges and cooperation with Chinese universities. Its cooperation with Guizhou Minzu University is on the list of key projects for the near future, and Ormerod looks forward to both universities enhancing mutual understanding, deepening friendship, and expanding cooperation fields in the future.

Located in Keele city in England, the Keele University has more than 10,000 students and has three faculties. It ranked 751-800 in the world according to the 2022 QS World University Rankings, 58th in the UK according to the 2022 Complete University Guide, and 35th in the UK according to the 2022 Guardian University Guide.

It was also among the top 20 safest campuses in the UK according to the 2021 Complete University Guide, and among the top 35 most influential universities in Europe according to the 2020 Times Higher Education.
