Guizhou becomes home to five new national wetland parks

According to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, five wetland parks in Southwest China's Guizhou province were recently approved as national-level wetland parks, which is expected to improve Guizhou's wetland protection system, promote ecological protection in desertification areas, and increase the number of wetland areas that can be accessed by the public.

1. Guizhou Fuquan Chahe River National Wetland Park

The park is located in Fuquan city's Chahe River area, and has a planned area of 623.95 hectares, including 241.94 hectares of wetland.

Statistics show that the park has 15 species of animal under national grade II protection, as well as an abundance of Chinese zelkova, also under national grade II protection.

2. Guizhou Xiuwen Yanying Lake National Wetland Park

The park is 8 kilometers away from Guiyang's Xiuwen county and is the second park in the city to be classified as national level. It has a planned area of 483.7 hectares, including 158.01 hectares of wetland.

The park's environment is highly suitable for wild animals, attracting a large number of birds in search of food and becoming an ideal place for birdwatchers and wetland science popularization and education.

3. Guizhou Ceheng Beipan River National Wetland Park

The park is located in northeastern Ceheng county and has a planned area of 2,424.34 hectares, including 1,708.1 hectares of wetland.

The park is rich in wild plant and animal resources, including nine species of wild plant and 19 species of wild animals under national grade II protection.

4. Guizhou Pingtang National Wetland Park

The park is located in Pingtang county, Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture. It has a planned area of 728 hectares, including 371 hectares of wetland.

It is home to various types of wetland ecosystems and a healthy ecological environment, providing a good habitat for wild animals and plants, and boasting rich biodiversity and many endemic species.

5. Guizhou Qianxi Shuixi Kehai National Wetland Park

The park is located in Guizhou's Qianxi county and has a planned area of 490.6 hectares, including 188.5 hectares of wetland.

It has various clusters of lakes, which are typical natural karst lake wetland landscapes and have high scientific research value.
