Guizhou company aims for green production of manganese products

Guizhou Manganese Mineral Group Co based in Tongren, Southwest China's Guizhou province, is focusing on a circular economy project of manganese resources in Dalong Economic and Technological Development Zone.

The company is China's first State-owned company that integrates combined heat and power technology with the production and R&D of multiple manganese products, and the only State-owned company in Guizhou that develops products out of manganese.

The project upgrades the traditional manganese processing industry and produces raw battery materials, such as high-purity manganese sulfate and electrolytic manganese dioxide. It also provides steam and power for production lines and other companies in the zone.

It consists of two stages, with the first stage able to produce 300,000 metric tons of high-purity manganese sulfate and 16,500 tons of electrolytic manganese dioxide per year. The second stage has a total investment of 490 million yuan ($70.37 million) and will start construction in 2023.

When the second stage is completed, the company will have an annual production capacity of 6 tons of high-purity manganese sulfate and 33,000 tons of electrolytic manganese dioxide, ranking third and sixth place in China, respectively.
