Guizhou consumer market booms during Spring Festival holiday

During the 2023 Spring Festival holiday, the consumer market in Southwest China's Guizhou province accelerated its recovery and the overall situation showed an upward trend.

Statistics from the province's commerce department showed that during the seven-day holiday on Jan 21-27, total consumer spending in Guizhou hit 26.54 billion yuan ($3.79 billion) and the number of purchases reached 50.13 million, which saw year-on-year increases of 9.23 percent and 7.35 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, the operating rate of 33 key monitored catering companies in the province during the Spring Festival holiday exceeded 50 percent. Sales of 66 key monitored retail companies during the same period reached 230 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.4 percent.

Moreover, sales in the food, home appliances and automobiles industries increased by 2.28 percent, 9.09 percent and 2.83 percent year-on-year respectively. Sales of refined oil increased by 17.97 percent year-on-year.
