Guizhou's prefecture listed as national cultural ecology protection area

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently announced the five national cultural ecology protection areas, which included Qiandongnan cultural ecology protection area in Southwest China's Guizhou province, the only one in the province to be listed.

The protection area includes 16 cities and counties in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture, one intangible cultural heritage item of humanity and 56 national intangible cultural heritage items, more than anywhere else in China.

It is also home to 218 provincial intangible cultural heritage items, 329 prefecture-level intangible cultural heritage items, 48 national inheritors of intangible cultural heritage items, three national intangible cultural heritage protection sites, 83 provincial intangible cultural heritage workshops for poverty alleviation, and 11 Chinese traditional craft revitalization projects.

But it doesn't end there - it is also home to 20 historical and cultural sites under national protection, 10 Miao villages and 12 Dong villages listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, one World Natural Heritage site, one national nature reserve, one national geological park, three national wetland parks, five national forest parks, 415 Chinese traditional villages, 126 national ethnic featured villages, and more than 390 festivals across the year.
