Guizhou joins hands with National Natural Science Foundation of China

Southwest China's Guizhou province recently signed an agreement with National Natural Science Foundation to join its joint fund for regional innovation and development.

According to the agreement, both sides will set up a joint foundation of 120 million yuan ($17.61 million) from 2023 to 2025, focusing on basic research and applied basic research in interdisciplinary scientific fields such as biology and agriculture, new materials and advanced manufacturing, energy and chemical engineering, electronics and information, environment and ecology, life and health, and aerospace and astronomy.

The regional innovation and development fund is jointly founded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the local government, and aims to promote collaborative innovation and improve regional scientific and technological innovation.

The partnership is expected to help Guizhou strengthen basic scientific research and introduce new technologies, help solve key technology problems in Guizhou's economy, society and sci-tech development, attract national advantageous scientific research resources, cultivate young scientific and technological talent, and help Guizhou improve its basic research and innovation ability.
