Yang Enlan is head of the plant protection station at Shuicheng district's bureau of agricultural and rural affairs in Liupanshui, Southwest China's Guizhou province. She was selected as a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC) for the first time this year.

In 2016, Yang returned from South China's Guangdong province to her hometown, Liupanshui, and started to work as a plant protection technician. Since then, she has continuously visited Shuicheng's 30 towns and townships, and has been devoted to increasing the local farmers' overall agricultural output and income.

In recent years, Shuicheng district has been developing its main agricultural sectors, including kiwi fruit, tea and chestnut roses, in order to revitalize rural areas.

Yang has been carrying out technical guidance and investigations on crop disease and pest prevention and control in major planting towns within Shuicheng, and has been visiting companies and individuals to better understand the needs of the public.

With her investigations, Yang plans to submit proposals to this year's NPC session that will improve agricultural production in Guizhou's mountainous areas. Such proposals include supporting rural vitalization, employment stabilization and agricultural machinery R&D.

Yang said that she will continue to study national policies and professional knowledge to better perform her duties, and that she will continue to promote environmentally-friendly methods to battle crop diseases, weeds, and pests.
