Guizhou, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been focusing on software and information technology services, electronic information manufacturing, and telecommunication in recent years, launching computing power facilities for the rapid growth of digital economy.

In the first quarter of this year, Guian New Area achieved an industrial output value of 708 million yuan ($98.2 million) in the electronic information manufacturing sector. The software and information services industry was projected to generate revenue of 10.9 billion yuan.

By 2025, Guizhou aims to achieve a total annual output value of 350 billion yuan in the big data electronic information industry. This included 210 billion yuan in electronic information manufacturing, 100 billion yuan in software and information technology services, and 40 billion yuan in telecommunication services.

In the first two months of the year, Guizhou's software and information technology services industry experienced year-on-year growth of 116.1 percent, the highest growth in the country.

To meet computing power demands, Guizhou's telecommunications operators have been promoting the construction and upgrading of infrastructure such as 5G, big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and computing power.

Taking advantage of the Eastern Data and Western Computing project, the telecommunication industry in Guizhou has experienced rapid growth and sought new areas of expansion.

From January to April, Guizhou's investments in information infrastructure reached 3.96 billion yuan, accounting for 41.05 percent of the total.

This year, Guizhou will continue to accelerate the construction and application of new information infrastructure. Efforts were made to expand the coverage of gigabit optical networks, aiming for all seven cities outside of Guiyang and Zunyi to become "gigabit cities".
