Guiyang city, Liupanshui city, Anshun city, Dafang county, Shuicheng district, Xixiu district, and Tongzi county in Southwest China's Guizhou province were selected as "2023 preferred summer tourism destinations", according to the China Summer Tourism Development Report Conference held in Central China's Hubei province on June 26.

The selection was based on climate, number of tourist attractions, popularity of tourism, popularity of summer resorts, altitude, and quality of tourism services.

Guiyang has an average altitude of 1,100 meters, with an average summer temperature of 22.3 C and more than 10,000 negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter, earning it the reputation of "China's summer resort".

Located in western Guizhou, Liupanshui has a unique climate where winters are not too cold and summers are not too hot. Its annual average temperature is 15 C, with an average summer temperature of 19.7 C.

Anshun has an average temperature above 10 C for nine months of the year, and an excellent air quality rate of over 99.8 percent. The city's forest coverage rate is over 60 percent.

Dafang county in the central part of Bijie is located in a low-latitude and high-altitude region. It is 1,700 meters above sea level and belongs to a mountainous area that is cool in summer. With an average summer temperature of 19.8 C, it is one of the coolest places in Guizhou during summer.

As a unique summer retreat site, Shuicheng district in Liupanshui has an average summer temperature of only 19.7 C and a high concentration of negative oxygen ions. It is also known as China's hometown of wild kiwi fruit, wild chestnut rose, wild idesia, wild star anise, ancient tea trees, and rare edible mushrooms.

Xixiu district in Anshun is globally popular for its karst landscapes. In 2019, Xixiu was honored as one of China's "top 10 summer tourism cities".

Tongzi county in Zunyi has an average altitude of 1,100 meters. Due to its significant altitude variation, the climate here varies greatly within short distances and different seasons. Tongzi has an average summer temperature of 25 C and a forest coverage rate of up to 60 percent.
