During the 31st FISU Summer World University Games held in Chengdu, Chen Weichun, an athlete from Hezhang county, Southwest China's Guizhou province, clinched the silver medal in the men's single sculls final on Aug 6.

Chen later participated in the men's double sculls final and won the bronze medal.

"My original partner couldn't make it due to an injury, so Ni Xulin and I became temporary teammates. We only started working together around July 30, and we have been adjusting our performance despite the huge pressure," Chen said.

Chen had only a few days to coordinate with his new partner. This undoubtedly made things harder for this two-person event that heavily relies on technical skills and cooperation.

At 13:25, the men's double sculls final officially began. The Chinese duo, Chen Weichun and Ni Xulin, closely followed their foreign competitors in the first half of the race.

In the final sprint, Chen and Ni overtook the German team and secured the bronze medal, adding another medal to China's rowing achievements.

"As temporary partners, winning the bronze medal is more than we could have hoped for. Overall, we are quite satisfied with the result. Participating in the FISU Games has been an incredible experience, and I plan to continue working hard and preparing for the upcoming national championships," Chen said.
