An art exhibition of classic Chinese animation will be held in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Aug 27. The exhibition will include a series of activities such as an animation manuscript presentation, book sharing sessions by renowned authors, salons, and book signings.

The exhibition is part of the youth winter and summer vacation reading week of the Colorful Guizhou Cultural and Art Festival. It aims to introduce excellent Chinese publishing works to Guizhou and preserve and improve classic Chinese animation works.

China's original children's picture books have developed rapidly in terms of variety, quality, and sales. Sustained development of original picture books requires cooperation among creators, publishers, promoters, and more. It is hoped that the exhibition will aid the establishment of a long-term platform for cultural and artistic exchanges and cooperation between Shanghai and Guizhou.

The exhibition will showcase 100 hand-drawn cover artworks from the magazine Xiao Peng You (children), over 100 manuscript sketches of famous animated characters, and sketches of the encyclopedia 100,000 Whys.

In addition, there will be an audiovisual experience room where visitors can experience classic animation and films.

A picture book creative design competition for Guiyang's primary and secondary school students will also be held.
