Finals of Village Basketball Association kick off in Guizhou

The finals of the Village Basketball Association (VBA) are being held from Oct 25 to 28 in Taijiang county's Taipan village, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture, Southwest China's Guizhou province.

After the competitions in the northeast, southwest, northwest, and southeast regions, a total of eight teams entered the national finals.

The teams include Guizhou's Shangzhong town and Chongqing's Changsha town in the southwest region, Guangdong's Dalang town and Guangdong’s Shaxi town in the southeast region, Gansu's Chuimatan town and Ningxia's Sanying town in the northwest region, and Shandong's Leping town and Shandong's Yuezhuang town in the northeast region.

There are a total of 16 matches, including group stage, semi-finals, third and fourth place playoffs, and the championship final.

During the finals, a VBA themed cultural park will open in Taipan on Oct 25. Meanwhile, Taijiang will attract investment and promote the sports and tourism equipment manufacturing industry.

Emphasis will be placed on the combination of rural sports and cultural creative development. A promotion conference for cultural creative products is scheduled to be held during the finals.

Taipan will improve the basketball courts for VBA, widen entries and exits, and enhance security facilities to ensure the safety of audiences. Services such as free admission, free parking, volunteer services, and tourism consultations will be provided, and guides for dining, accommodation, and transportation will be available.

On the evening of Oct 29, the "Champion's Night" event will also be held in the Zimei Square of Taijiang county.
