The second plenary of the 13th Chinese People's Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Guizhou Committee opened in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Jan 23.

It is the highest-level consultation and political discussion carried out by the CPPCC Guizhou Committee.

Sun Chengyi, vice-chairperson of the committee, reported at the plenary that since the first plenary of the 13th CPPCC Guizhou Committee, 742 out of 751 received proposals had been recorded.

Among the 742 proposals, 259 were from groups and 483 were from CPPCC members. By the end of 2023, all proposals had been responded to, and 573 were adopted, accounting for 77.22 percent of all recorded proposals and 8.13 percentage points higher than last year.

According to Sun's report, the proposals represent the common persons' hopes and expectations for the development of the country. Many suggestions and recommendations raised in the proposals were given attention and adopted by related departments, contributing to Guizhou's economic development, improving quality of life, and strengthening environmental protection.

The report also put forward the work plan for CPPCC proposals in 2024, aiming to improve the quality and effectiveness of the proposals in five areas: strengthening political guidance; improving the quality of proposals; improving the quality and effectiveness of proposal handling; optimizing the performance of CPPCC duties and services; and contributing to overall development.
