Annual plenary of Guizhou Provincial People's Congress opens

The second plenary of the 14th Guizhou Provincial People's Congress opened in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Jan 24.

At the plenary, the work report of the Guizhou Provincial People's Government was revealed, according to which, Guizhou's GDP increased by 4.9 percent year-on-year in 2023.

Guizhou's general public budget revenue and general public budget expenditure surpassed 200 billion yuan ($28.03 billion) and 600 billion yuan, respectively, while the per capita disposable income for urban and rural residents increased by 4.1 percent and 8.1 percent year-on-year, respectively.

The added value of industries above a designated size (those with an annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more) increased by 5.9 percent year-on-year. The industrial sector accounted for 27.2 percent of the overall economy.

In 2024, Guizhou aims to achieve an increase of about 5.5 percent year-on-year in GDP, with a year-on-year growth rate of 3.5 percent, 6 percent and 5.5 percent in primary, secondary, and tertiary industries, respectively.

The total retail sales of consumer goods are expected to increase by 6 percent year-on-year; the per capita disposable income for urban and rural residents is expected to increase by 6 percent and 8 percent year-on-year, respectively; and the urbanization rate of the permanent population is expected to reach 57 percent.
