The Symposium 2026 for Eco Forum Global Guiyang was held on July 6 in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, bringing together government officials, industry experts, and representatives from international organizations to deliver keynote speeches.
Erik Solheim, president of the European Union’s Europe-Asia Center, delivered an analysis of the opportunities and challenges in global environmental governance, emphasizing that China is an indispensable driving force in the global green transition and expressing hope that more countries would find inspiration and encouragement in China's ecological civilization practices.
Chao Qingchen, director of the National Climate Center of China Meteorological Administration, analyzed strategies for building a climate-resilient society under China's "dual carbon" goals, emphasizing the need to enhance society-wide resilience and confidence in coping with extreme weather events and urging a more proactive approach to climate change.
Guests also discussed how Guizhou can align with global agendas such as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the Paris Agreement, focusing on translating global consensus into local action and using green financial instruments and carbon market mechanisms to drive the growth of green industries.
